Fishing several of the streams and rivers
that flow into the upper Kvichak.

There are several streams and rivers that flow into the Upper Kvichak River. These streams all have runs of King Salmon, Silver Salmon (Coho), Sockeye Salmon, Chum Salmon, and Pink Salmon. Rainbow Trout as well Arctic Char follow the salmon up these streams. We often fish at the confluences of these streams and rivers where they run into the Kvichak.

King Salmon, as well as Silver Salmon, school up at the mouths of these streams before heading up. The King Salmon will hang out at the mouths of these creeks and streams for a while and then they slowly start moving up the streams. We have several especially good places up the streams to catch Kings. Once the Kings start spawning, the Trout fishing is great as well!

We catch both Kings and Silvers at the confluences of these streams with the Kvichak River. Chum Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, as well as Pink all run these streams.

We motor up these streams to fish the shallower areas where it is possible to wade fish.

We often drift down certain sections of the upper areas of the streams, casting to pods of salmon as they work their way up the streams. They also hold in the deeper holes (usually the bends) of the streams as well. The fishing can be hot at times in these holes.

The silvers and kings eventually work their way up these streams from a few miles to 30 miles.

These upper areas are prime small stream fishing. You can walk for miles, fishing the holes and pools of these areas for kings and silvers as well as the rainbows that follow the salmon up.
